Eindhoven, September, 2017

The analysis of complex networks has in recent years started to play a central role in all sorts of applied and theoretical fields of science and technology. The advent of the computer age has resulted in increasing interest in fundamental properties of real-world phenomena appearing for instance in transportation, traffic, communication, energy, biological and social networks. Mathematics has been playing a primary role in establishing what is now referred to (by some) as Network science: a new, fast-growing interdisciplinary scientific field. Despite the fact that mathematical models of networks have been studied for several decades, rigorous, systematic research programs to do so were only initiated about twenty years ago. In this tenth Stochastic Activity Month, organized in collaboration with the NETWORKS consortium, we aim to bring together scientists and mathematicians from a diverse range of fields and backgrounds to discuss the latest developments and discoveries.
